We will begin the combat with Brosix.

Brosix IM

Cost: Free

Features:

File sharing capabilities: Yes, with encryption.

Group collaboration tools: Video Conference, Voice Conference, Screen Sharing, Voice Chat, Whiteboard.

Now, Onto MSN 2009*

Cost:Free

Features:

File Sharing Capabilities: Sky Drive, which requires you to upload the files to storage before you can share.

Group Collaboration Tools: N/A

For a product with so many developers behind it, this has a very short features list. The ability to send up to 25 MB of files would be nice, if you didn’t have to store them with Microsoft first. Given the long list of security vulnerabilities in the operating system you could be putting some very important files at a very big risk.  These two factors put MSN in the dust, and Brosix in the Winners Box!

*Some features still in BETA.
