Business Chat IM Issues to Avoid

With so many benefits of using a business chat IM it is hard for some people to fathom that there are also drawbacks. There are some definite issues that you will want to avoid. Some of them are simple to stay away from; others take a bit of time, effort, and learning.

To start, you need to avoid instant messengers that are not secure. If you are using a program that does not take security seriously, now is the time to make a change. There is no good reason to take risks with your business.

What about poor quality? Again, this is an issue that you want to avoid at all costs. For instance, you may come across an application that is not very reliable. Too often you are “kicked off” your program or you find that some features are “not currently available.” If you cannot use the application at will you are going to get frustrated soon enough.

You also have to avoid usage related problems such as employees communicating with those outside the office. When you use a business chat IM that allows you to set networks, it is easy to avoid this potential issue.

What about problems with people not wanting to use the application? This is something that many businesses do not think about when getting started. Remember, just because you implement a business chat IM does not necessarily mean that everybody is going to want to use it. Somewhere along the line an administrator needs to explain the benefits to ensure that the majority of people are using the program as intended.

All in all, the benefits of using a business chat IM far outweigh any potential issues. That being said, you should be aware of these problems just in case they arise.
