Nominations are the first step. Once we receive enough votes in each category, then we will participate in the competition. The nomination itself is a success. There’s no prize — just the joy that come with knowing that the readers of one of the Web’s largest networks love your favourite IM client – Brosix.

We are the Brosix team and we continue our commitment to provide customers and clients with one of the most well-supported enterprise instant messengers by offering regular updates as needed on a routine basis.

Brosix Instant Messenger 3.2 comes with many improvements and new features which includes:

1. High Quality Video – Video calls between users are now available in 640 x 480 resolution. As Brosix continues to advance and develop its unique enterprise and public instant messenger programs, we look forward to providing full high definition (HD) video, with a resolution of 1920 x 1080.
2. Improved Audio – Improved echo cancellation functionality to reduce surrounding sounds and echo. This feature dramatically improves audio quality.
3. Directory (with many files) transfer – All users are able to send a directory full of files with a single drag-and-drop movement, from the Brosix menu or from the Windows Explorer context menu.
4. File/directory transfer integrated with Windows Explorer – The ability to send folders/files directly from Windows Explorer context menu. No matter what the user wants to send, the process is the same: 1. Right click on the file/directory 2. Go to “send” in the context menu 3. Choose Brosix 4. Choose the recipient(s) from the Brosix context menu.
5. Custom Brosix client logo – Users can see the logo of their company in the main Brosix client screen, following the contact list. (Custom logo is an enterprise feature that previously appeared solely in the “web control panel”).
6. Customizable plug-in order – Users can change the order of plugins in the “tool bar” located in the main Brosix window on the right side of the contact list. This feature also enables users to hide and unhide plugins.
7. Delete history – Users can delete history from the history menu.
8. Single Brosix client running – Only one Brosix client will run on a given computer at a certain time.
9. Missed event list and sticky notification (optional) – Until this point, if you are not on your computer you will have to click manually on the chat window upon returning to see if there are any missed events. With the recent updates, events can now pop up in the notification window above the system tray or in the center of the screen – this window will stay “sticky” until it is clicked to close or another action is taken.
10. One user in many groups – This feature is fully integrated in the Brosix client allowing one contact to be included in multiple groups. This contact will simultaneously appear in all groups in the contact list.
11. Manage away time – Users with admin status now have the ability to set “away time” of all network users.
12. Improved Contact list ordering (only for free version) – Contacts can be sorted via drag-and-drop from one group to another. All old “groups” menus will be removed and all the functions of “groups” will be placed in the context menu.
13. Welcome screen – When a user starts Brosix for the first time a welcome screen will appear with options for testing microphone, headphones, loudspeakers and web cam. A wizard is included for assistance with checking devices.
14. Global Shortcut key – User can set a combination of keys (ex. ctr+shift+c/ctr+shift+d) and use them to pop out the main Brosix client window and switch between chat windows.

For Brosix Enterprise users, the import/export feature is one that comes in handy on many occasions.

With this feature, network owners can easily bulk import user accounts into their IM network. Best yet, this is a “one click” process – there is no manual creation of each account.

The Brosix Web Control Panel is full of features that are designed to make life easy on the network administrator. The import/export feature definitely falls into this category.

Along with easily importing users, you can do the same with the export feature. By clicking the export icon, user accounts including first name, last name, and email, are exported into the program of your choice.

The import/export users feature of Brosix Enterprise allows you to automatically import and export user accounts with speed and efficiency.

For Brosix enterprise users, the custom logo feature should not be overlooked.



With this feature, IM network administrators have the ability to upload their company logo direct from the Web Control Panel. When enabled, the new logo is displayed both on the Brosix download site and the account site.

Is it mandatory? Of course not. If you don’t want to use the custom logo feature you can forget about it for the time being.

Why would I want to add a custom logo? In short, it improves the overall user experience as those in your network will have visual confirmation that they are in the right place. Not to mention the fact that it helps from a “branding” perspective.
