Instant Messaging Can Waste Time
A lot of people – bosses, IT departments – are concerned about potential time wasters on the internet. This, of course, leads to the blocking of websites, social networks, and Instant Messaging clients from many workplaces. The truth is that all of these can – and do – waste time. The other essential truth is that people talking to each other around the water jug or coffee pot does as well. People can drop in offices, maximize their lunch times, pretend to be busy – people can do all of those things and they often do. It isn’t necessarily the internet that breeds lack of productivity or time wasting, it is the person themselves that chooses what to do with their time while in the office.
The question you should ask yourself when it comes to deciding whether or not Brosix – or any other Instant Messaging client – is right for your office is whether or not the positives outweigh the negatives. People can waste time just as easily, if not more so, on email than they ever could on IM and no company is going to ban email anytime soon.
The benefits of Brosix – which we have outlined on this blog frequently – should lead to a more productive and useful work force. It can improve client-employee interaction, clear up questions when it comes to confusing emails or directives, and provide telecommuting employees with a better way to communicate. It also offers the power of collaboration thanks to powerful tools such as screen sharing and Whiteboard. Brosix also brings features like the ability to voice chat and leave a voice mail for an offline user to the Instant Messaging table. That, my friends, is what elevates Brosix from a potential time waster to a powerful tool.
Any time wasted via Brosix can be more than made up for with the ease of communicating, powerful tools, and increased opportunities for collaboration that Brosix brings to the table.
