In the olden days of instant messenger the conversation was text only. Almost everyone has a story that they can share of how a text-based conversation was misinterpreted. In my own life I have had a number of jokes fall flat because text does not have the richness of voice or face to face communication. These inherent limitations have been overcome in recent years as IM clients have added support for both voice and video chat.

The fact that Brosix offers video and voice chat in a secure, enterprise manner makes our service far more valuable in my mind. Telecommuting employees or employees in different offices should your company be spread out beyond one office.

The ability to voice chat renders a phone less necessary which can save on cell phone or long distance expenses – and in the current economic climate every little bit counts, right? It can also work to render miscommunication via IM less likely, always a positive for both bosses and employees!

Video chat can also be a powerful tool in a variety of business settings and when combined with the other collaboration tools that Brosix offers can serve to make the working world easier than ever before. One positive that can come from video chat is the ability to put a face to the name with clients that may not be in your direct area. In a global economy that sort of personal touch can be a powerful asset for your company.

The Brosix development team are constantly hard at work adding more and more features. I look forward to highlighting them as they come! As always you can reach me at nhahn at brosix dot org with any comments or questions.
