This year there will be again a “Best IM” competition organized by About.com. Nominations started yesterday and will continue to February 15. Please, spend a few minutes and nominate Brosix in all categories.

You should click on each link and using your Facebook account post your nomination. The only version we don’t have is Blackberry, so you may not nominate us in this category.

Nominations are the first step. Once we receive enough votes in each category, then we will participate in the competition. The nomination itself is a success. There’s no prize — just the joy that come with knowing that the readers of one of the Web’s largest networks love your favourite IM client – Brosix.

Brosix is a chat application, very much similar to AIM, Windows Live and Skype, that you probably use. The difference is that it has many more features, there are no ads and it is free

Great news for users of the free version of Brosix Instant Messenger, Brosix Public– the Brosix 3 Release Candidate (RC) has been released to all users. When opening Brosix, users will be prompted to update their version of Brosix to this new RC.

Brosix is pleased to announce that we are again winners in the About.com IM Awards. This time, Brosix won for ‘Best IM Feature‘. This feature was the Brosix Screenshot.

Brosix won with an astounding 61% of the votes (6108 votes!), competing against Digsby’s Facebook Integration, G-Recorder, ICQ’s Feeds, and Yahoo! Messenger’s Video Calls.

This was stiff competition and Brosix is proud to again be one of the best public and enterprise instant messengers on the market today.

About.com recently announced the results of their 2009 Best IM Client Competition which generated thousands of nominations and votes. Brosix Enterprise Messaging was a surprise victor in two categories and placed in the top three in three other categories. Brosix was going up against companies such as Microsoft, Google, and Yahoo.

Brosix won “Best Instant Messaging Feature” for their Whiteboard feature. About.com’s Instant Messaging Editor Brandon De Hoyos had this to say in the results page, “This exciting feature allows Brosix users to draw diagrams, images and other visuals to help Brosix’s largely business-based user illustrate their points. Paired with other low-cost conferencing tools, Whiteboard can help make business communications easier and more affordable over similar web-conferencing tools available on the Internet.”

Brosix also emerged victorious in the “Developers of the Year” contest which lead to Brandon writing, “Founded in 2006, Brosix’s developers at software creator D-Bross, of Bulgaria, worked to build one of the most versatile, efficient and cost-effective IM clients for business. However, I believe that the ‘Accounts’ and ‘Privacy’ sections are the best for new users to Brosix who want to learn more about the instant messaging program and how to change certain preferences, along with the idea behind private networks and why it is important to remember that you can only communication with others on your own secure network.

In searching for article ideas for the Brosix blog, I often stumble across new features of Brosix or sections of the Brosix website that I did not know about. This is what happened when I was surfing around Brosix’s website and I came across the Brosix forum at http://forum.brosix.com a few weeks ago. 

A forum is an online discussion place where people can ask questions, post relevant links to news and websites, and talk with other users online. There are several sections- frequently asked questions (FAQ), general discussion, news and announcements, and getting started with Brosix. Getting a screen name for the forum is free and it allows you to learn more about Brosix, along with talking to the developers and other users. 

There are only 47 registered members on the Brosix forum as of now, but I say we can do much better than that! Especially since I know we have a lot of regular readers on the Brosix blog. I joined, my screen name is kchildress. So, come join us over at the Brosix fourm, where you can talk with other Brosix users, ask questions, and just learn more about Brosix.
