AOL announced that they have re-designed their long-standing instant messaging program, also known as AIM (or AOL Instant Messenger). This program was one of the first heavily used mainstream instant messaging programs.

However, with a long history and a free program anyone can download (without heavy security in place), AIM developed into a spam magnet that hackers used to target users by using bots to initiate conversations, which then allowed them to offer an external link that went to a potentially dangerous website that would contain malware or a virus.

While many IM users eventually “wised up” and stopped using AIM, there are still a great number that don’t understand that there may not be a real person at the other end of an instant messaging conversation. AIM did place “block and report user” options in place, but when hackers are able to automate actions, they become almost unstoppable.

New AIM Design

Even though AIM now has a well-designed, shiny new exterior, these threats will still remain as long as users are able to log on with anonymity from around the world. In order to run Brosix successfully, it’s important to make sure that there is a steady and reliable internet connect available. Ideally, a direct connection from the computer to the modem via a cord is usually the most reliable, but if the computer is receiving a strong wireless connection, then it should work as well.

Because some of the features on Brosix Instant Messenger require instant streaming (such as screen sharing and video chat), having a good internet connection is key. Without a strong connection, some of the features may seem slow, or “laggy”, which means that they aren’t instant and may need time to pause and buffer.

Besides the strength of the wireless signal, your computer’s speed (including the memory and hard drive space) may also affect the Brosix experience. If a computer is outdated and doesn’t have a large amount of memory or a high processing speed, it may run Brosix slower than a new machine.

Finally, in order to ensure that all Brosix features run efficiently, make sure to have the most current version of Brosix downloaded. The internet has done many great things to unite the world and all it’s people and cultures together.
